Can I apply as an individual or do I have to be part of a team?

You can apply as an individual or as a team. However, the total funding available is limited to a maximum of Rs. 30,000/- per application.

Is there a minimum duration for the travel?

If your travel is completely funded by this grant, it has to be for a minimum duration of 7 days.

What do you mean by ‘mountainous regions’?

By mountainous regions we mean any region within India whose terrain may be described as hilly or mountainous. We do not mean only the Himalayas – it could be the Western or Eastern Ghats, the Vindhyas, Aravallis etc. A useful thumb rule would be to check if the hilly or mountainous terrain of a region has a significant influence on the people, culture and/or the ecosystem/s which exists there. If it does then the place qualifies as a mountainous region for the requirements of this proposal.

How much money can I get? How will I get this money?

We will provide a maximum of Rs. 30,000/- per team. This money can be made available to you by demand draft or online transfer. The Trust reserves the right to ask you to submit expenditure evidence to prove that the money has been used for legitimate and stated purposes. Teams/individuals selected for funding will have to sign an agreement with the Trust that will include mutual indemnification.

Is there any work or outcomes that I am expected to produce?

You are expected to provide us with a daily journal (comprising of route map, captioned photographs and/or sketches, and written observations) which at the minimum tells us where and when you travelled and your experiences during the trip. Beyond this, you are free to propose any outputs you may want to produce, but that will not influence the selection process. Rather than any other output you produce, we hope the experiences you gain from the travel will be the biggest reward—to you and to us.

Intellectual Property rights of all work will be yours. Work shared with the Trust will be under a CC BY-SA 4.0 license. The trust reserves the right to request additional materials from the grantees over above what has been proposed to be shared. The work should be shared with the Trust by the end of the traveling year.
